PRIVACY POLICY
Your memories, kept close.
This policy covers the current native DayPho iOS app and daypho.net. It explains what stays on your device and what happens when you choose to share or contact us.
- Your journal stays on your device
- No in-app analytics or tracking
- You decide what to share
1. The information in your journal
DayPho stores the photos you select, entries, titles, notes, moods, manually chosen weather, dates, photobooks, favorites, events, drafts, and app preferences on your device. An optional profile name and photo are also stored locally.
The app processes this information to display, organize, search, and export your journal. It does not send your journal or profile to us. There is no DayPho account or connected DayPho cloud-sync service in the current iOS app.
2. Photos, metadata, and permissions
When you select a photo, DayPho may read and retain information already embedded in that image, including its capture date and GPS coordinates if present. This information stays with the local journal and may be included in a backup. Small imported original image files may also retain their embedded metadata.
DayPho does not request live device location. Weather is chosen manually. Photos are selected through Apple’s photo picker; DayPho does not upload or continuously scan your photo library.
Optional reminders use local iOS notifications. You can turn them off in DayPho Settings or manage notification permissions in iPhone Settings.
3. Analytics, advertising, and tracking
The current iOS app has no connected advertising network, third-party analytics SDK, or tracking service. It does not transmit journal content, advertising identifiers, or usage events to us, and we do not sell your journal information.
Any Advertising space area in the current app is a visual placeholder; it does not load network ads. Apple may process App Store, TestFlight, or diagnostic information under your Apple settings and Apple’s privacy policy.
4. Backups and sharing
When you choose to export a backup or share a photo card, iOS sends the file to the destination you select. We do not receive a copy automatically. A backup can include your photos, notes, profile, preferences, and photo metadata, and is not encrypted by DayPho.
If you save a file in iCloud Drive, another cloud service, or another app, that provider’s privacy and retention practices apply. iOS device backups may also include app data depending on your device settings. Manage these copies separately from the journal in DayPho.
5. Keeping and deleting your information
Local journal information remains in the app until you change or delete it, replace it through a restore, or delete the app. You can delete individual entries and photobooks in DayPho. Deleting the app, rather than offloading it, removes its local app data from that device.
Files you exported, shared images, and device or cloud backups are separate copies. Deleting an entry or the app does not delete those copies; remove them through their storage provider or the people you shared them with. We cannot remotely access or delete a journal stored only on your device.
6. When you contact us
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments or other information you choose to send. We use these to answer questions, investigate issues, and handle your request. Our email service providers process the correspondence to deliver and store it.
Please do not send private journal contents or full backups unless needed for a specific issue and you choose to share them. We retain support correspondence only as long as needed to handle the request, keep necessary support records, or meet legal obligations. You can email us to request access, correction, or deletion of information you sent.
7. Visiting this website
The DayPho website is hosted through Cloudflare. Delivering and securing a webpage involves technical request information such as an IP address, browser details, requested address, and request time. Cloudflare may process this information for hosting and security under its privacy policy.
Our website code does not add advertising trackers, analytics scripts, or tracking cookies. Fonts and illustrations are served with the site. Interactive sample memories are demonstrations and do not upload your journal. Contact links open your email app; this website has no support form that automatically submits your information.
8. Your choices and requests
You can choose which photos to import, omit optional profile and journal fields, disable reminders, export a backup, and delete local content. The Privacy choices page explains how.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning information held about you, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or a complaint to your local data-protection authority. Contact us about information you have sent to us. No identity documents or full journal backup are needed in an initial request.
9. Children’s information
DayPho does not require an online account or ask for a date of birth. If you believe a child has sent us personal information in a support message, contact us so we can address the request and remove information where appropriate.
10. Changes and contact
We will update this page if DayPho’s practices change and show the updated date above. New services that change how data is handled will be described before or when they are introduced.
